Our dream
After years of hard work in Belgium, we decided we couldn’t wait any longer to make our big dream come true … moving abroad. Danny had always worked in construction, and I, Ann, was a learning therapist. A perfect combination, don’t you think? What’s more, cooking had become my new hobby, so it all fell into place.
Aminata
We searched for and found a beautiful country house in the picturesque village of Pontcirq in the Lot department in France. This country house, with its ‘pigeonnier’ or dovecote, is built from the region’s characteristic pale limestone. We fell in love with it straight away and named our estate ‘Aminata’, which means ‘guardian angel’. After all, we were certain that we would feel right at home here and that we could make our dream come true here. Since then, we have been living at the top of a small French village. The tranquillity, the open space and the beautiful view of the valley were the first things that struck us. The region is characterised by a mix of deep valleys and hills, and the countryside remains pure and unspoilt. It is not without reason that it is known as the ‘Tuscany of France’.
At home in France
Aminata is situated right next to the better-known and slightly busier Dordogne department, which is easily accessible from here. And yet we live right in the heart of nature. Going to sleep and waking up to fawns in the garden, beautiful butterflies and birds everywhere – what more could one ask for? Year after year, this house is being transformed more and more to suit our own taste, and we feel more and more at home here. We hope to welcome you to our butterfly paradise as soon as possible and promise you a lovely, unforgettable holiday and peace and quiet – lots and lots of peace and quiet…!
